Despite positive reviews for his role as a gangster in the movie Black Mass, Johnny Depp has revealed he doesn’t care much about receiving an Oscar Award.
In an interview with BBC’s Newsbeat, the 52-year old actor revealed that getting nominated is more than enough for him. He opines that winning the award will mean he is in competition with others whereas he is not in competition with anyone.
“I don’t want to win one of those things ever, you know. I don’t want to have to talk.
“They gave me one of those things, like a nomination, two or three times. A nomination is plenty,” he explained.
“The idea of winning means that you’re in competition with someone and I’m not in competition with anybody.
“I just stick to my guns and do what I want to do. Sometimes people don’t like it but that’s alright,” he further explained.
Johnny Depp has had three Oscar nominations in the past for his roles in movies such as Finding Neverland (2004), Sweeney Todd (2007) and Pirates of the Caribbean (2003).
