KUBWA, Nigeria – A civil servant, Wasilat Saka, has appealed to a Grade 1 Area Court in Kubwa, Abuja on Thursday, June 8, 2023, to dissolve her marriage with her husband, Tajudeen Jimoh, citing abandonment and conflicting faith beliefs as her reasons.
Saka informed the court that she and Jimoh were wedded under Islamic Law on July 30, 2022, and the marriage has not produced any children.
She further accused Jimoh, who purportedly professed Islam, of deserting her for months and failing to perform all Islamic rites.
“My husband does not observe the five daily prayers and does not participate in the Ramadan fast either,” Saka alleged.
She added that they always argue and fight due to these issues. Saka pleaded with the court to grant her request for a divorce.
Though Jimoh was absent from court, the court’s bailiff, Mr Dangana Bawa, presented evidence that he was served the hearing notice.
The Judge, Ibrahim Rufai, adjourned the case until June 13, 2023, for judgement.
