An abortion clinic has been busted by officials of the Zone ‘5’ Police Headquarters in Benin, Edo State capital.
One medical doctor and four nurses were subsequently arrested during the rad at the clinic located at Upper Uwa Street, off MM Way of the state.
The police recovered a foetus, hospital equipment believed to be abortion equipment, and other exhibits.
It was learnt that a pregnant woman had gone to the clnc for a check-up and had her baby aborted by the medical personnel.
The discovery was made following complaints received by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Musa Daura, in charge of the zone on the illegal activities of the clinic, whose staff were alleged to have been secretly performing the act for several years.
