OWERRI, Nigeria – Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has described the state of affairs when he assumed office in 2020 as akin to a cemetery, claiming that he had to ‘exhume the body’.
In a recent appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Wednesday, Jjune 14, 2023, Uzodinma stated, “When I came to Imo State, I met a moribund state, a state that was in distress. A state, I can even say, was in the cemetery; I exhumed the body.”
He further lamented the significant infrastructure deficit he encountered upon entering office. “All the roads were not motorable, and all the hospitals were not working,” the governor stated.
Highlighting his administration’s efforts, Uzodinma declared: “Given the situation in Imo State before 2020 when I became the governor and the situation of Imo State today, 2023, three years after, a lot of things are there for people to know that there is a huge difference.”
The governor’s comments indicate his commitment to improve the conditions of the state and suggests a promising vision for the future of Imo State.
