Eight fans of Brazilian football club, Corinthians, have been reportedly shot dead on Sunday, April 19, 2015 ahead of the team’s semi-final match against Palmeiras, AFP reports.
According to a Sao Paolo military police spokesperson, seven people were killed instantly while one other died in the hospital after unknown assailants stormed the club’s headquarters.
It was gathered that the gunmen, numbering at least two, forced the victims to lie together before executing them.
Confirming the incident via its Twitter page, the club wrote “MOURNING” with white letters on a black background, the club’s traditional colours.
