Thisday reports:
According to a resident, the crises started when some suspected Fulani mercenaries attacked the village at the early hours. They were said to have shot sporadically which forced residents to scamper for safety.
The attackers were repelled by the community for some hours before the arrival of a detachment of military personnel.
The attack on Mai Akuya showed an increase in the crises that has engulfed Nasarawa State recently which has claimed several lives and has left a huge refuge toll in the state.
An attempt by the state Governor Tanko Almakura to find a peaceful solution to the crises with an organised peace summit was boycotted by most PDP stakeholders in the state.
The recent crises in the state started shortly after Governor Tanko Almakura was given a clean bill of health by the impeachment tribunal set up to investigate a 16 point accusation of gross misconduct leveled against the governor by 20 PDP members of the Nasarawa State Assembly.
