6 Killed As Fulani Herdsmen Attack Plateau Village

The attacks in parts of Plateau state continued on Saturday, October 12, 2014 as at least six people lost their lives following an attack on Shonong village in Riyom local government area of the state by unknown assailants suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

Thisday reports that the attack was said to have occurred as the victims were going to Badok from Shonong for business activities

Daniel Dem, majority leader of the Plateau state house of assembly, who hails from Riyom constituency confirmed the attack, saying it was a sad development.

Dem said: “We are calling on members of the Special Task Force (STF) posted to the state to fish out the perpetrators of this act.”

Speaking via a statement issued in Jos, the Plateau state capital, the Berom Youth Movement (BYM) said at least twenty six people have been killed as a result of violence in parts of the state.

The statement read in parts: “These persistent attacks have been on daily basis; from Thursday 2nd October, and the various attacks have  been launched  on Lwa, Shonong, Fang, Dum Chengy, Rakweng, Diyan Rachi and Sharubutu villages of Bachi district of the  LGA.”
