Background Check
It is important that you take your time to learn about the company you are applying to. Look at the following:

- News about the company
- Social media accounts like LikedIn
You want to pay attention to things like company goals, where the company was founded, or where it is headquartered. It might also be a good idea to find out how the company makes money. Knowing this kind of information should help you stand out and show this employer you care.
Doctoring the Resume
You probably have a resume you feel confident about, but you should not use the same resume at every job interview. The truth is it is wise to modify your resume to ensure it matches the job you are applying to.
What you want to do is look at various resume examples to find one you can easily modify. Once you’ve found that resume, change it around to fit the position you are applying for. For example, if the job requires leadership skills, be sure to include job experience or hobbies that highlight leadership qualities.
Data Means More Now
Long gone are the days where you could simply point out the tasks you were responsible for in your past jobs. Interviewers are looking for more concrete data or information, and you need to find a way to provide that if you can.
Instead of writing down what you were responsible for, use a chart to show the growth your department experienced while you were there. It may be a little harder to get this kind of information from a past employer, but it should be worth it if you are able to.
Those who do not have this data may want to consider using specific stories that highlight your experience as long as they are short and to the point.
Learn About the Interviewer
Some interviewers divulge their name, which you can use to your advantage. You can look this person up online or on social media. This could give you an opportunity to learn the kind of values he or she has or the kind of things that might be asked during the interview.
Being able to anticipate questions gives you more time to prepare. You could also use some of this information to break the ice if there is an awkward moment during the interview. Figuring out a way to be personable and friendly with your interviewer is only going to make you more memorable, so there is no harm in doing this.
Prepare a Few Questions
At some point during the interview, the tables will turn, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions. Most of the time, this time is underused by job seekers. You can ask your interviewer all sorts of questions, not only for your benefit but to show this individual you care.
Try to stay away from questions regarding salary, benefits, or working hours. These are things you can learn about later on, or interviewers may divulge this themselves. Ask about the kind of culture the company tries to promote or the kind of team efforts that are being developed.
