5 New Suspected Ebola Cases Reported In Lagos

The Lagos state government has announced that five suspected cases of the dreaded Ebola virus has been reported at the Yaba Mainland hospital, Lagos on Tuesday, August 19, 2014

While making the announcement at a press conference on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, Lagos state commissioner for health, Jude Idris explained that two of the reported cases were from secondary contacts.

He also stated that so far, Lagos state has recorder 8 suspected cases, of which 5 were reported on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 with 12 confirmed.

He further stated that 5 persons have died (including the index case – Patrick Sawyer) and that the state was following up on 213 contacts, 62 of which have exceeded the stipulated follow-up period.
