5 Common Mistakes Lovers Make On Valentine’s Day

Must read

[dropcap]U[/dropcap]sually, there should not be any rules and norm for love. But this society, ‘hame jeene nahi deti.’  On a serious note, sometimes, rules or etiquettes are for our own good. After all,  ‘My freedom ends, where your nose begins.’

Let us celebrate this Valentine’s Day with some flowers & etiquette. Read on to know those 5-mistakes we all are guilty of committing.

Giving in to pressure

We all have grown up watching movies about love, fantasizing about having someone to spend this beautiful day with, Fast forward to real life, and we have a lot of things to be taken care of. Most of us are living from one paycheck to another and it does kinda seem unfair that you go on a spending spree and for the rest of month, face a money crunch. It is okay to give a nice surprise of a romantic getaway and a dinner at a posh restaurant but not at the cost of your hard-earned money. You can say a lot with a bunch of roses and a box of chocolates too. Instead, you can also plan a staycation and spend some quality time together with fresh flowers.

Wasting precious time away

Roses aren’t the be-all and end-all of Valentine’s Day. There are many more seasonal flowers such as carnations, tulips, violets and anemones that can be gifted on Valentine’s Day. While roses are the traditional flowers on V-day, given its deep significance in expressing love, nothing is written in stone. Make this day about your sweetheart and do what they like!

Spending too much

Sometimes, we tend to lose focus on what’s more important and get carried away.  It is okay to some extent to lose yourself and splurge but isn’t this day about loving each other and not just about the gift. The entire week is spent celebrating Valentine’s Day get together, late night parties and drinking- it just zooms past and you are too tired to pay attention to each other, which actually this day should be about!

Focusing on Everything else, Not Just Creating Memories

Expecting gifts from your loved one is completely normal. However, aiming at just gifts and not the love is akin to cheating in a relationship. We have become so materialistic these days that we don’t pay attention to the feelings behind the present or want the other person to just shell out money so that we can flaunt and post on Instagram. The bigger the gift, more the show-off.  In the process, we miss out some really good time and some beautiful memories that we could cherish all our life. When just a fresh flower bouquet and a piece of cake could do, you don’t have to break your budget to get them a diamond ring. If you can, by all means, but don’t do it because it is expected out of you.  Rather go the extra mile to spend time and make the most of the day. If you are in a long distance relationship, you can travel to be together or take a leave to spend the day with each other.

This Valentine’s Day, keep it simple, beautiful and real. Make it wonderful!
