Chaos broke out over the weekend as about five people were trapped to death inside a warehouse which collapsed in Area A of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to a report by Punch, the collapsed warehouse was an old facility used in storing Dangote salt.
A source privy to the matter disclosed that about five persons were discovered dead under the rubble following the incident on Saturday, May 7, 2016.
The source said: “It happened on Saturday around 5pm and five persons, who were trapped in the rubble, were found dead.”
Narrating the incident, an eyewitness said that most of the affected persons were people around the bathroom and toilet of the warehouse.
The source said: “Those that died were around the bathroom and toilet area and the walls that fell affected them. Their bodies were found when the people began to open up blocks and search the rubble.”
The authorities are yet to confirm the incident as at the time of filing this report.
