TRAGIC: 5 Dead As Church Building Collapses On Worshipers In Enugu

Tragedy has struck in Oduma, Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State as a church building collapsed on the worshipers leaving about five persons dead.
The incident occurred in the late hours of Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Cathedral of St. Anthony Catholic Church in the state.
According to sources who witnessed the incident, the presiding priest of the church, Rev. Fr. Nonso Eze, was conducting rehearsals around 9pm ahead of the service on Sunday, April 12, 2015.
A section of the alter suddenly collapsed killing five persons instantly and leaving one other with a severe fracture on the ankle.
The Police Public Relation Officer of the state, Ebere Amaraizu, said investigation is ongoing into the incident adding that the corpses have been deposited at a morgue.
She said, “A full scale investigation has commenced into the alleged incident just as the dead bodies of the deceased persons have been deposited at Jideofor Hospital Mortuary Awgu for necessary action.”
