A fourth American health worker who contracted Ebola in West Africa is expected to arrive the United States on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 for care.
The victim will be treated in Emory University Hospital, Atlanta where two other aid workers successfully recovered from the disease, the hospital said on Monday. The hospital has confirmed the patient will be treated there but cited confidentiality in not releasing more information about the person.Air Force spokesman Lt Col James Wilson said the patient, as in past cases, would be flown into Dobbins Air Reserve Base outside Atlanta.
The World Health Organization, however, said one of its doctors who has been working in an Ebola treatment center in Sierra Leone has tested positive for the disease. It said the doctor was in stable condition on Monday in Freetown and will be evacuated. The state department said the doctor was from the US.
Ebola has claimed more than 2,000 lives in West Africa and continues to spread.
