A total of 47 students will graduate with first class honours from the Bells University of Technology, Ota for the 2017/2018 academic session.
Jeremiah Ojediran, the vice-chancellor of the university, made this known on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at a press briefing marking the 10th convocation of the institution in Ota.
NAN reports that a total of 491 students comprising 417 undergraduates and 74 post-graduate students would graduate for the academic session.
They comprise 47 first class honours, 148 with second class upper, 151 with second class Lower, while 71 had third class.
Ojediran explained that the institution had been sensitive to its environment by providing relevant programmes that would improve human development.
“The institution has also recorded a remarkable progress in the number of PhD holders which increased from 13 in 2017 to 16 in 2018,” he said.
“It is also important to report that 14 of our staff got international awards, grants and scholarship from the international bodies.”
The VC also said that 18 students of the institution got Microsoft certification.
He further said that these certified students had so far helped in the training of 113 staff of the university in various computer programmes.
Ojediran said that the institution had established a standard Computer-Based Test Centre, adding that this service would take service delivery to the next level in the university.
He identified paucity of funds as major challenges confronting the institution, saying that the university required the intervention of the government to improve on its infrastructure.
