A middle aged man believed to be in his forties was yesterday butchered at Bantaji in Wukari local government area of Taraba State.
An eye witness told Leadershp newspaper that a minor disagreement between a Tiv man and a Fulani man resulted in a fight that left the Tiv man in pieces in Wukari market.
The incident degenerated into a factional clash as the squabble moved from the market to the major highway.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the fight moved from the market to the major high way, the popular Jalingo- Wukari road, where the Tiv and Fulani factions engaged each other in a free for all fight.
It was further gathered that the clash compelled commuters, plying the high way, to stop several kilometres away from Bantaji, the urban centre of the city.
Leadership learnt that it took the combined efforts of both the military and the police to bring the crisis under control and restore normal vehicular movement in the area.
The spokesman of the Taraba State police command, Joseph Kwaji, confirmed the incident.
He, however, said that normalcy had returned to the area and called on residents to go about their normal activities, adding that the police was on top of the situation.
