A 40-year-old businessman, Emeka Oguzie, was on Monday, September 14, 2015 arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court Lagos State for allegedly defiling his 7-year-old daughter by inserting his finger into her private part.
The accused is facing a two-count charge of defilement and causing breach of peace, although he pleaded not guilty,
The prosecutor, Sgt. Jimah Iseghede, had told the court that the offence was committed on September 6, 2015 at the Oguzie’s residence at Suite 37, Ojokoro Housing Estate, Meiran, a suburb of the state.
According to Iseghede, the accused allegedly fingered his daughter, but was caught by his elder son, who reported to the mother.
“The victim said that her father had been doing that for some time now,” Iseghede said.
The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravened Sections 135 and 166(d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, remanded the accused in prison and adjourned the case till Tuesday, September 29, 2015 for ruling on bail application.
