A 40-year old Indian man who was allegedly attempting to rape a teenager has had his genitals cut off with a meat cleaver after was lynched by an angry mob, a Daily Mail report shows.
The man, Suresh Kumar was lynched in Ganganagar in Rajasthan state after the unnamed teenager began screaming for help. Kumar was then found pinning the girl against the wall, after which he was beaten for about an hour before he was taken to a butchers shop where they had him castrated
Aamir Dhawan, a 30-year old resident of the area said nobody was ready to help Kumar after he was lynched as he had committed a sex crime. He said: “We have had a lot of intolerable offences against women in this country recently, with girls being raped, hung, and molested, and it’s time it stopped. This sends out a very strong message to anyone like that – if you do it you will be punished.”
Police have condemned the act, calling for those responsible to own up as people should not take laws into their hands.
A police spokesman said: “As deplorable as these crimes are, law and order has to be maintained, and not lynch justice. We ask those men who carried out this attack to hand themselves in before we find them.”
Kumar was later taken to the hospital where he is being treated, although doctors say the 40-year old is in critical condition.
