Twelve people, including four police officers collapsed at the Polo Ground, Katsina, venue for the All progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally for its candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari.
The said rally which was supposed to start at 10 am did not commence as scheduled as key officers of the APC failed to show up at the venue until 4;30 pm.
Some of the victims had been standing under the sun for hours, with the heat and stress taking its toll on them. It took the efforts of sympathizers to revive them with fanning and water.
An eyewitness further availed that most of the people who collapsed were stationed close to the podium where key APC officials were to speak from and had to be rushed to the hospital after they passed out.
