Four women were on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 discovered dead inside the same house at Olisa Onyeka Crescent near the Commissioners’ quarters in Awka GRA, Anambra State.
Reports stated that three of the deceased women had gone to visit the fourth person, Mrs Chinwe Obi, an INEC officer who served as the electoral officer for Onitsha South Local Government Area.
The trio believed to be church members reportedly went to commiserate with Mrs Obi whose husband just returned from Benin Republic, Cotonou about a week ago.
They were reportedly found dead with their bibles still in their hands.
Confirming the incident, the state commissioner of police, Hosea Karma, said the police was alerted after several calls made to Mrs Obi were unanswered.
Some worried relatives decided to check on her and while searching through the house, discovered the lifeless remains of all the women.
The bodies were deposited at the state mortuary.
Karma said the death was not a case of murder as none of the women had any bruises on them.
An ongoing investigation has been launched to unravel the mystery surrounding the demise of the four women.
