At least 350 alleged Boko Haram insurgents are to face charges over terrorist activities in the North-Eastern part of Nigeria.

Adamu Abubakar, the Nigerian Army Chief of Administration, who confirmed this report while addressing newsmen on Friday, June 19, 2015 mentioned that the 350 suspects had been recommended for trial at a Federal Court.

He further noted that the 350 was only a fraction of the 504 suspects currently in detention.

Abubakar disclosed that the number of those facing trial was a product of recommendation by the two joint investigative teams commissioned by the defence headquarters to investigate, screen and categorise suspected militants in detention.

The case files of the suspects have been forwarded to the office of the Attorney General and the Ministry of Justice for further review.
