A 33-year-old man, Sylvester Okuku, has been jailed for two months for beating a woman identified as Comfort King in the Badawa Quarters of Kano State.
Okuku was arraigned on charges of criminal force which contravenes the dictates of Section 265 of the Penal Code.
According to the Prosecutor, Cpl Yakubu Galadima told the court that on Sunday, July 19, 2015 Comfort King of Badawa Police Station Line, reported the case to Badawa police Division, Kano State.
Galadima told the court that Okuku used force on King and beat her up, inflicted injury on her face and broke her rubber bucket in the process.
According to Vanguard, the accused pleaded guilty to the charge and the presiding magistrate Fatima Muhammad sentenced him to two months imprisonment or pay a fine of N7, 000 for the offence he committed.
Okuku was ordered to pay N700 to the complainant, as compensation for the bucket, or face a jail term of three days.
He was given the grace to appeal the sentence within 30 days.
