Operatives of the Ebonyi state police command have apprehended a man, Chinedu Nweke for the alleged beheading of a 45-year old woman, Philomena Nwega in Ezaa North Local Government Area of the state, according to a report by Vanguard.
32-year old Nweke reportedly ambushed and beheaded Nwega on her way back from the farm in Amuda area of the local government area where both persons hail from.
Ebonyi state police commissioner, CP Maigari Dikko confirmed the incident while speaking at the state’s police headquarters in Abakaliki, the state capital.
“According to the suspect, his reason for beheading the woman was that her son, one Friday Nwega, allegedly raped his wife sometime ago,” Dikko revealed.
“After committing the murder, the suspect threw the headless body into Ogbor stream in Amuda and buried the head in a nearby bush.
Both body and head of the deceased have been recovered by operatives of the Command’s Department of Investigation,” he said.
