According to a report by the Daily Mail, Tanner recently moved in with her boyfriend, Angelo Smith. Police interviewed her three-year-old son, who detailed terrible abuse.
“Mommy got a spanking with the belt,” the boy told North Carolina investigators.
A local television affiliate reported the child’s interview from released police reports.
“Angelo kicked mommy’s b**t and made her cry,” the boy said. “Angelo is mean to mommy and hurt mommy in the face.”
Smith himself reported Tanner missing on June 8. She had been slated to start a new job at a Charlotte-area school. Smith told police the couple got into an argument via text and that the mother and educator was last seen leaving the couple’s apartment. Smith claims she was drunk and carrying a bag with her at the time that she left.
