Tragedy struck over the weekend in Okerimi-Oro in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State as three secondary school students got drowned in a well one after another while attempting to get some water to perform ablution.
Vanguard gathered that the three boys, whose ages ranged from 14 to 15, are students of Ayaki Secondary School located in the area and had wanted to perform ablution ahead of breaking their fast when the tragedy struck.
One of the victims reportedly tried to fetch water from the well but suddenly toppled and fell in and the second victim instead of calling for help, climbed down the well to solely rescue the first victim but got drowned in the process followed by the third.
However, confusion engulfed the members of the community as a supernatural twist was subsequently initiated after the three corpses were recovered from the well.
A source who resides in the area disclosed that leaves were thrown inside the well for appeasement to avert further deaths but much to everyone’s surprise, the leaves dried up immediately they came in contact with the well water.
