There’s been a push by black activists in America to change the narrative concerning dysfunctional family settings among black people in the African American community.
The mainstream narrative from the press has been that black men are not reliable, violent, and predators. The “rolling stone” culture among black men has also created a generation of black men and women who grew up without their two parents.
The criminal justice reform policies expounded by the Bill Clinton administration had a nuclear effect on the black community incarcerating a whole generation of men and women for decades over non-violent crimes like possession of small amounts of drugs.
So with the breakdown of the black family, also came the aversion to marriage. The hip hop culture which in most parts promotes promiscuity, single parenthood, the degradation of black women and genocide of the black male also added to the culture of disregard for marriage.
In this video below, two black activists take up the subject of marriage in the African American community.
