Three female suicide bombers have been reported dead following an accidental detonation of the explosives strapped to their bodies in their failed mission to rain havoc in the already troubled Borno State.
According to the state police command, no other person was victimized in the incident which took place on Tuesday, June 9, 2015.
The state police commissioner, Aderemi Opadokun, told AFP News Agency that the bombers died on their way to the state capital, Maiduguri.
He said, “All three suicide bombers were killed and there were no other casualties.”
It is yet to be deciphered if the Boko Haram insurgents were the masterminds of the attempted attack even though they had used female suicide bombers on several occasions to attack mainly crowded areas of some major cities in the northern parts of the country.
This is coming up barely two weeks after General Muhammadu Buhari ordered the Nigeria troops to move their headquarters to Maiduguri during his inauguration on Friday, May 29, 2015.
However, the spate of the insurgency has not decreased as reports of attacks almost on a daily basis had become the order of the day since Buhari’s assumption of office as the president.
The figure of victims from the numerous Boko Haram attacks within Buhari’s first one week was put at over 80 persons.
