A 25-year-old man identified as Familola Ayodeji, had been arrested by the operatives of the Department of Criminal Investigation, Ado-Ekiti for allegedly raping an 85-year-old woman.
Ayodeji who resides at No. 17, Oke Ido Street, Ido-Ekiti committed the heinous act on Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25, 2014.
This was disclosed via a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of Ekiti State Police Command, ASP. Victor Babayemi on Thursday, January 8, 2015.
According to Nigeria Police Force, the victim, a great grandmother was asleep when the suspect sneaked into her room, bolted the door and forcefully took advantage of her.
It was learnt that after committing the crime, Ayodeji went into hiding but luck ran out on him as he was caught in the dragnet spread for him by detectives.
A medical test conducted on the victim proved that she was actually raped.
Police had stated that the suspect would soon be charged to court.
