NAN – A 25-year-old man, Kingsley Inyang on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court charged with defiling his neighbour’s underage child.
The accused, who is unemployed and lives at No.16, Adetunde Arogundade St., Fagba– a suburb of Lagos– is facing a charge of defilement.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Jimah Iseghede, told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 26 at his residence.
Iseghede said, “The accused sent the victim, aged 12 years, on an errand and on her return, he shut the door on her, pushed her on the bed and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
“It was the victim’s elder sister who heard her cry and went to inform their mother,” the prosecutor said.
The offence, according to him, contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State,2011.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him
The Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias granted the accused N250,000 bail, with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case to Sept. 7 for mention.
