Some men suspected to be herdsmen have invaded the Sondi village in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba Statte in the early hours of Sunday, October 19, 2014 leaving about 25 persons dead and several houses razed.
This was disclosed by the National President of the Nigeria Association of Wapan Students, Tsokwa Addanti Ajidik during a press brief with newsmen, according to Punch.
Hesaid, “Today (Sunday) some gunmen in security uniform attacked our village. I can confirm to you that 25 people have so far died going by the reports at our disposal. The gunmen also looted properties worth millions of naira”.
The student’s president expressed maximum satisfaction with the security operatives for their actions.“We are not happy with the security operatives because they were aware that these attackers were invading our village today, yet they did not prevent the attack.”
Confirming this incident, the Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ademola Omole said about seven people were killed in the attack.
He said, “So far, only seven people were confirmed killed. But we are fully on the ground there. I have sent more of our men to the area and peace has returned.”
