‘Animal’: Women Pleads With Court To Punish Husband Who Raped Her 10-Year-Old Daughter

A 35-year-old woman has described her husband, John Odu, as an animal for sexually abusing and defiling their 10-year-old daughter.

The aggrieved mother is begging an Ogba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos to mete out severe punishment on him.

The accused was alleged to have taken advantage of the innocence of his daughter when his wife was not around to engage in the act.

The police said the incident happened in the Lekki area of Lagos.

The police prosecutor, Akeem Raji, said when the 10-year-old girl could no longer bear the pain, she reported the matter to her mother.

The accused is currently facing a two-count charge of sexual assault and defilement, offences that attract up to 14 years in jail if found guilty.

The police said that the highly traumatised girl alleged that her father locked her inside their apartment, forced her to open her mouth, and ordered her to suck him before forcing himself on her.

“My Lord, the beast of a man threatened to kill his daughter if she reported the incident to her mother,” the police said.

He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command.

However, when he was arraigned, the court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Akeem Raji, asking the court to give a date and refer the matter to the Department of Public Prosecution, DPP.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs B. O. Osunsanmi, ordered his remand in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri, Lagos, pending the DPP’s report.

The matter was adjourned till November 19, 2022.

4 Anambra Men Gang-Rape 13-Year-Old In Sick Bid To Punish Her Father

The National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, Anambra State, in collaboration with vigilantes, has arrested three persons for allegedly gang-raping a 13-year-old girl.

According to news agencies, four suspects were involved in the incident, but while three of them were arrested, the fourth suspect escaped when security operatives invaded their neighborhood at Nkpor, near Onitsha, Anambra State.

Ify Obinabo, the state commissioner for Women and Social Affairs, disclosed the incident to journalists in Awka on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, through her media aide, Chidimma Ikeanyionwu.

She said the culprits had been handed over to the state police headquarters in Awka, where they would be prosecuted.

The commissioner lauded the victim for speaking up after the incident and assured her that she would get justice.

During interrogation, two of the suspects reportedly confessed to the crime and pleaded for forgiveness, saying they raped the victim after a disagreement with her father.

But the third suspect insisted that he was only present when the incident happened.

Contrary to his claims, the victim reportedly insisted that he was the second person to have carnal knowledge of her.

“According to the victim, the suspects were co-tenants with them but took her to Nkisi River to rape her after they had an altercation with her father.

“The victim, while narrating her experience, said she was first slapped by the boys, then dragged to Nkisi, before she was ordered to remove her clothes as the suspects took turns to have carnal knowledge of her,” the commissioner added.
