NAN – An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Thursday ordered the remand of a 24-year-old Lateef Olajumoke for alleged conspiracy and murder.
The accused allegedly shot one Adekunle Mamora on the head and he died instantly.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the accused did not take any plea.
The Magistrate, Mrs K.O. Ariyo, ordered the accused be remanded in Ikoyi Prisons pending legal advice from the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions.
The Prosecutor, Sgt Matthew Akhaluode, had earlier told the court that the accused committed the offences on Sept. 30, at No. 46, Mosaku Street, Oshodi at about 8.30 p.m.
He said the offences contravene Sections 221 and 231 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.
Akhaluode said they filed the charge before the court in order to secure lawful detention of the accused pending advice from the office of the DPP
NAN reports that Section 221 prescribes death sentence for an accused guilty of murder.
The case was adjourned till Nov. 1 for report of legal advice from the DPP.
