MANGU, Nigeria – Residents of Farinkasa Kerana and Sabon Gari communities in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State were left mourning after an attack by gunmen last night left 12 people dead.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang has responded by imposing a 24-hour curfew on the Mangu council, following these recent attacks that resulted in significant loss of lives and property.
Meanwhile, the Mwaghavul Development Association, comprised of Governor Mutfwang’s kinsmen, has renewed their calls for the Federal Government to declare the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, MACBAN, as a terrorist organization.
A resident, Mathew Habila, confirmed the killings, explaining that the victims were attacked in their homes on Saturday night.
He also reported that several houses were set on fire by the attackers, causing the two communities to be deserted.
“We have our people killed again in another attack last night. This time, 12 people were killed with several others injured, and many houses were burnt by Fulani militia at Farinkasa Kerana and Sabon Gari communities in Mangu districts of Mangu council,” Habila said.
Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Alabo Alfred, for comments on the incident were unsuccessful, as his phone lines were unavailable when our correspondent attempted to reach him.
