Lucky Sunday, a 23-year old man reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling in his room in Buruku area of Jos, the Plateau state capital, according to a report by Vanguard.
His mother, Cecilia Sunday, who confirmed the death said he had a history of bad temper but could not ascertain what could push him to kill himself.
She said: “I returned from the market where I went to sell grains. I was drenched by the rain so I went straight to the bathroom to remove my cloth. After that, I tried to enter my room but it was locked from the inside. I banged and called out his name but there was no response.”
She quickly beckoned on neighbours who forced the door open, only to find his limp body was found hanging from the ceiling
Neighbours said Lucky was heard singing to a song on the radio earlier in the day before his lifeless body was found dangling from the ceiling, assuming he had taken a nap when the singing ceased.
The matter was reported to the Plateau state police command who said they have begun investigation as to the possible reasons for the death.
