A 21-year-old member of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, identified as David Onyeasina, has been gunned down in Benin, Edo State capital.
The deceased who was posted to Edo College, along Murtala Mohammend Way, Benin, for his primary assignment, was a graduate of Fine and Applied Arts from Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomosho, Osun State.
Onyeasina, was reportedly attacked by the armed bandits while he went to a shop to buy a recharge card on Saturday, June 13, 2015.
According to Vanguard, two suspects (names withheld) who were arrested by police on patrol, said the deceased corps member was hit by stray bullets as they attempted to escape.
Confirming the arrest the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Stephen Onwochei, said they force recovered two cut-to-size guns, nine live cartridges, 10 mobile phones and jewellery belonging to the victims of the assailants.
He further revealed that the police have intensified efforts to ensure that the other members of the gang.
The police spokesperson further implored the public to assist the police with relevant information that could lead to the arrest.
