As 2015 draws ever close, elders and traditional title holders from Awgu local government area of Enugu asked the state governor, Sullivan Chime to vie for the Enugu West senatorial district senate seat, presently held by Ike Ekweremadu, the deputy senate president, Thisday reports.
The elders under the umbrella “Ndi Nze N’ Ozo Awgu Egbeleli” made the assertion while paying the governor a visit at Government house, Enugu. They said the move became imperative considering the landmark achievements recorded by the government of governor Chime since his assumption of office.
The contingent from Awgu, which is one of the three councils which constitute Awgu/Aninri/Oji-river federal constituency where Ekweremau hails from was led by chief De Stephen Onuoha, the traditional prime minister and Mathanus Nze, the Awgu local government chairman.
They hailed the governor for his giant strides in area of social service provision, peace, security and the equitable distribution of amenities.
