NAN- A 20-year-old housewife, Vivian Camillo, on Tuesday urged an Ikorodu Customary Court in Lagos State, to dissolve her one-year-old marriage over alleged abandonment and battery.
Vivian told the court that her husband, Carlo Camillo, 31, abandoned her since she got pregnant.
She alleged that her husband usually beats her, even when she was pregnant.
“He batters me even during this pregnancy. I almost lost it but God saved me as I had to run away from home so that he does not kill me.
“He stopped giving me food when I was still living with him. In fact, he stopped me from entering his kitchen.
“He has also promised to enroll me in a higher institution, but he failed to do so,’’ Vivian said.
She also said that she met another woman in her husband’s apartment the last time she visited to pick her property.
Vivian urged the court to dissolve the union, saying she was no longer in love with him and was tired of the incessant battery.
Camillo, a supplier of granite, did not deny the allegations, saying he usually beat her out of frustration.
“I enrolled her in a part time school sometimes ago, but she insisted she wanted a full time school.
“Truly, I have another woman who had been staying with me because I don’t love her anymore.
“I also want us to be separated. As for the pregnancy, I will take full responsibility,’’ the respondent, who resides at Olakunle Soga St. in Ikorodu said
The President of the court, Olu Adebiyi, however adjourned the case till Feb. 29 to see if there would be any chance of reconciliation between the couple.
