A 20-year-old commercial motorcycle operator identified as Babalola Sunday was on Thursday, October 8, 2015 remanded in prison by a Federal High Court in Lagos for alleged trafficking of narcotics.
Sunday who resides at No. 81, Agboyi Road Alapere in Ketu area of Lagos, was arraigned on a one count charge of unlawful dealing in narcotics.
Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke ordered the accused to be kept behind bars at the Ikoyi Prisons pending the hearing of his bail application.
Testifying before the court, the Prosecutor, Mr Jeremiah Aernan, of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, said the 20-year-old committed the offence on September 13 at his residence.
Aernan told the court that Sunday was caught by some officials of the NDLEA with 200 grammes of hemp.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 11 (c) of the NDLEA Act, Laws of the Federation, 2004.
The accused,however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
Aernan prayed the court to remand Sunday in prison custody while asking for an adjournment of the case.
Justice Aneke adjourned the case till Tuesday, November 3, 2015 for commencement of trial.
