20 Dead As Gunmen Attack Mosque In Yobe

Gunmen stormed and opened fire in a mosque in Buni Gari village in Yobe on Saturday, April 5, 2014 killing at least 20 worshippers, Punch reports.

According to survivors, the killings were carried out by suspected Islamic militants.

A civil servant named Musa Ibrahim said the gunmen struck before dawn this morning as residents of the village were gathering for the first prayer of the day.

The village, which is in the outskirts of Damaturu has been struck by gunmen too many times in recently.

The militants usually target Mosques headed by Muslim clerics who preach against their extremist doctrine.
