NAN – The police on Wednesday arraigned two men at the Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly being in possession of a Mercedes Benz truck, suspected to be stolen.
The accused persons are: Alex Ejiofor, 35, a resident of Elele, Port Harcourt, Rivers and Shedrack Godwin, 35, resident in Benue.
They are standing trial on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and being in possession of property suspected to be stolen.
The prosecutor, Insp. Umoh Inah, told the court that the accused persons were arrested by policemen from Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FCT Command.
He said that the Mercedes Benz truck was suspected to had been stolen from Setraco Construction Company, Port Harcourt on Jan. 21.
He also said that the offences contravened sections 97 and 319 of the Penal Code.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty.
Mr Aondowase Apera , counsel to Godwin, made an oral bail application for his client.
Though the prosecutor opposed the bail application, the judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N200, 000 each with one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case till March 23 for hearing.
