Two young men found with the body of a two-year-old girl have been arrested by members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abia State Command.
The arrest was made at a petrol station close to the Ariaria international market in Aba following a quarrel between the suspects identified as Jonathan Nwogu and Chibuike Anubuife and a man which attracted the attention of the security agents.
While briefing pressmen, the NSCDC’s state commandant, Andy Datee, disclosed that the suspects where making plans to bury the toddler in an abandoned pit in Osisioma, close to Aba.
Giving a detailed information of their arrest, the commandant added that if not for the timely intervention by his men, the suspects would have been lynched by angry mobs.
Meanwhile, the identity of the dead girl is yet to be revealed but the men have been handed over to the police for further investigation, he said.
