Two alleged homosexuals were stripped totally naked in public and battered by a raging mob after they were caught having sex inside a house in Benin City, Edo State capital, according to reports.
The lovers would have been lynched but for the timely intervention of some elders in the city who advised that they be handed over to the police.
An eyewitness who was among the people that saw the sordid action said that the men were suspected to be gays due to their closeness.
According to the source who spoke on the condition of anonymity, some residents began to monitor the unsuspecting duo until the fateful day when they were finally caught in the act inside the apartment of one of them.
The source said: “Those guys have been in this shameful act for a long time and when people noticed that they were always together and in the midst of other guys, they started monitoring them till they were caught having sex.
It was quite disgusting. They were stripped naked and beaten mercilessly before some elders advised that they be handed over to the police.”
