17 Die, 64 Injured As Suicide Bomber Attacks Protesters In Afghanistan

17 people were killed on Thursday, April 2, 2015 as a suicide bomber detonated explosives near a group of protesters in Khost, a city in the Eastern part of Afghanistan, CNN reports.

Provincial Police Chief, Faizullah Ghairat said a member of the Afghan parliament, Humayoon Humayoon was among the 64 who were injured following the explosion.

An eyewitness Zahir Jan said the protesters were on their way to meet up with a larger group holding a rally against the Provincial Governor when the suicide bomber struck.

Many believe that the Taliban is responsible for the attack which happened around 10 am local time, although Taliban Spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid denied the group’s involvement.
