The Police prosecutor, Jonathan Garba, said Akpan, was kidnapped by Ugbodaga who was lived in Calabar at that time, when she went to visit her aunt from her base in Akwa Ibom State.

Garba further told the court that the suspect told policemen at the “B” Division Police Headquarters in Suleja, during interrogation that he met the victim in Calabar and sought for her friendship but she declined, only for her to fall under a spell after he touched her.

It was learnt that he initially took her to Lagos State after she became unconscious and subsequently took her to Suleja, where he held her hostage and deprived her of all forms of communication with people.

According to the prosecutor, the victim regained her senses from the spell at a church service, where her neighbour had taken her to and after asking series of questions, she opened up before the police were alerted.

She was taken to a different house along with the two children for safety before the suspect was arrested.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges pressed against him in court although he admitted to have fathered the two children but denied abducting their mother.
