Gabonese striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was on Thursday, January 8, 2016 crowned CAF African Player of the Year at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, Nigeria.
Last year’s winner, Yaya Toure came second while Ghana’s Andre Ayew came third. Aubameyang who plays for Borussia Dortmund polled 143 points to win the prestigious award. Ivorian and Manchester midfielder, Yaya Toure polled 136 points while Swansea’s Andrew Ayew was second runner up with 112 points.
Aubameyang therefore becomes the first Gabonese player to win the award. He also ended Yaya Toure’s four year reign as Africa’s best player.
