The world’s fattest man, Andres Moreno, has died from a heart attack in the morning of Christmas day on Friday December 25, 2015 at the age of 38.
Moreno who weighed 980lbs at his heaviest died inside an ambulance as he was being rushed to hospital from his home in Ciudad Obregón in Sonora, Mexico after he suffered a fatal heart attack.
His publicist, Carmen Palacios announced the sad development via a statement which was obtained by newsmen.
He said: “Andres died at 8.30am on Christmas Day in an ambulance from a heart attack as he was taken from his house to San Jose Hospital.
“We are dismayed by the news.”
Moreno died just a month after renowned footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, sent him a signed Real Madrid shirt in a bid to encourage him to lose weight.
After he received the gift, Moreno said: “I want to thank everyone, especially Ronaldo, for taking interest in my case.
“Sometimes you think that people live in another world way from the people, but that is not the case.
“I feel as if I had gotten a Christmas gift before Christmas.’
The deceased later underwent a weight-loss surgery at a Mexico hospital after he naturally lost 266lbs.
According to reports, Moreno, who weighed 700lbs at the time of his death, was buried in his home state on Saturday, December 26, 2015.
Moreno became the second man from Mexico to claim the title after the Guinness World Record awarded Manuel Uribe, from Monterrey, with the title of heaviest man alive in 2006.
Prior to the last heart attack that led to his death, Moreno, who was a former police officer had suffered series of the same ailment as well as others sicknesses.
Hi wife of three years was said to have dumped him as a result of his size.
He said: “I lost my wife who I lived with for three years because I was fat. I realized I was putting on more and more weight and getting bigger but it was like a snowball I couldn’t stop.
“Friends and family would visit me and when they went I was left alone crying and sad because of my situation and begging God to put me back on the right path.”
