An Ejigbo Senior Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 remanded a 26- year-old man, Idowu Ade, in prison custody for allegedly attempting to rape a 9-year-old girl in the Shasha Area of Lagos State.
Ade was remanded in custody by the Magistrate, Mr A.A. Adeyemi, after he pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of attempted rape of a minor.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Femi Adeleye, told the court that the accused who has no fixed address, committed the offence on Monday, November 9, 2015.
Adeleye said: “The accused lured the child out of her house and took her to the back of the building to have canal knowledge of her.”
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The magistrate ordered that the accused should be remanded in custody at the Kirikiri Prisons, Apapa while he adjourned the case until Monday, December 14, 2015 for facts and sentencing.
