Argentine soccer star, Lionel Messi has been named the La Liga player of the 2014/2015 season at an award ceremony which took place on Monday, November 30, 2015.
The 28-year-old Barcelona man beat Real Madrid forward, Crisitiano Ronaldo to win the award. That was not all, Messi was also named the top forward in Spain for last season.
Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez shoved off competition from Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann and Barcelona’s Andres Iniesta to win midfielder of the 2014/2015 La Liga season.
In the best defender category, another Real Madrid player, Sergio Ramos beat Gerard Pique and Nicolas Otamendi to the award.
Barcelona’s Claudio Bravo was named best goalkeeper of the season in review while Barca boss, Luis Enrique won the award for best coach.
The award for best South American player in the La Liga went to Neymar while Valencia’s Sofiane Feghouli won the award for best African player in the La Liga last season.
Cristiano Ronaldo was absent at the ceremony but got an award for himself as he was named the fans’ player of the year as voted on social media.
