Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State recorded a major boost to his re-election bid yesterday when former governorship aspirant, Arc Reuben Okoya and over 10,000 others from various communities in the Bayelsa Central Senatorial District endorsed him for the December 5 election in the state.

From one community to the other, the people who trooped out in large numbers to receive Dickson and his entourage pledged their commitment to the governor’s re-election citing his performance in office in the first term.

Okoya, who vied on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said in spite of the lean resources and dwindling allocations from the Federation Account, the governor has been able to impact on the lives of the people in the state, especially in the area of provision of infrastructure and security.

He said that though it is now too late for the other aspirants who contested against Dickson to step down for him, they should accept the outcome of December 5, 2015 election in good faith.

He has, therefore, called on the other aspirants to rally round the governor as he said he was committed to his re-election for the progress of the state.

Dickson was applauded by the people for the location of the cargo airport in their senatorial district which they reckoned would open up the area for business activities as well as generate employment for the teeming youths.

They were also unanimous that they won’t be swayed by the propaganda of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC ) candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva, and those of his supporters in the state.

Communities visited in the district included Ikolo, Bumoundi-Ekpetiama, Akabiri, Yenebebeli, Yenaka, Edepie, Akenpai, Akenfa, Yenegwe, Agudama and Igboghene

Responding, Dickson thanked the people for their solidarity and support for the Peoples Democratic Party, assuring them of his commitment to further reposition the economy of the state if voted into power.

He disclosed that the ongoing cargo airport at Amassoma was 70 per cent completed, adding that by the time it is ready, would boost the business and commercial activities not only in the area but the entire state.

He called for their support saying his re-election would ensure the completion of all on-going projects and begin new ones.

The governor charged the people to come out en- masse on election-day to vote for the PDP as a good way to reciprocate his administration gesture to their communities.

He also reminded them that the only weapon they have was their Permanent Voter Cards(PVCs) as he encouraged them not to be intimidated ahead of the polls.
