13 Punctuation Marks You Definitely Don’t Know

In celebration of National Punctuation Day, which falls on September 24 each year, Mental Floss created this infographic which displays and explains 13 wonderful pieces of near-obsolete punctuation. Almost all of our punctuation marks were created to emphasize and exaggerate meaning when full stops, question marks, and exclamation marks simply will not do and now you should have an extra 13 ways to fully express what you mean! For example, there’s the ‘percontation point’ used to signify a rhetorical question and my personal favourite the ‘snark mark’ used to indicate a deeper meaning to a sentence and that it’s not a literal statement.
