Eleven persons, including a child, sustained varying degrees of injury in a multiple crash at Upper Iweka in Onitsha, Anambra state.
The accident, which occurred around 5.50pm on Monday, January 25, 2021,involved a Toyota Harrier Jeep and two Atrai wagons with 17 persons on board.
The crash was caused by obstruction and speeding.
Similarly, two persons were seriously injured in lone crash that involved a Mitsubishi L300 bus with registration KPP 191 YT in Uli, Ihiala Local Government Area of the state.
The crash, which involved 14 persons, compromising 10 males and 4 females, was reportedly caused by tyre burst, leading to loss of control.
Andrew Kumapayi, the sector commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, who confirmed the incidents, said no life was lost, adding that the injured were rushed to different hospitals for medical attention.
He wished the injured accelerated recovery, warning motorist to desist from using expired tyres, which could lead to serious traffic crash in the event of tyre burst.
“Motorists should use their mirror to look out for other road users before parking to pick their passengers to avoid other vehicles running into them.
“They should also use their indicator light to indicate their intentions before parking,” he added.
